Oscars 2016: My Favorite Red Carpet Looks

Those Oscars! Did you watch? The Oscars are never short on style and this year’s Academy Awards hair and fashion gave us much to admire. I thought I’d share a few of my favorites…

Gowns boasted beautiful necklines and lots of bared shoulders. To compliment this trend, hair was elevated. We saw hair pulled back and up, everything from bouncy ponys to sophisticated braids wrapped and piled high.

The styles that won my vote were pulled off the face and necklines to show off beautiful faces and compliment couture fashion. The best looks saw talented actresses wearing gowns and hairstyles in the Oscar-worthy roles they were meant to play.

The hair of one of my favorites, actress Charlize Theron, was head-to-toe class, a perfect 10 in my book. Her deep side part allowed the hair to sweep beautifully across the face to culminate in a tucked back finish. The entire hairstyle was super polished. Her deep red, plunging Christian Dior gown worked perfectly with her blonde hair. Loved it all!

I adored all the white dresses! Lady Gaga was especially stunning in her Brandon Maxwell gown with mini train. I think her performance of “Till it Happens to You” had more than a few in tears.

Rooney Mara was a beautiful contrast in style. Her sleek, triple-knotted pony set the pace while deep burgundy lipstick punctuated the statement. Her Givenchy gown with its sheer lace detail and interesting cutouts brought her beautiful style front and center.

Kerry Washington exemplified the class of a perfectly coiffed pony. Her hairstyle perfectly echoed the movement and style of her Versace gown. She carries herself with beauty and grace.

The beautiful braids in a low, wrapped chignon accentuated Olivia Wilde’s Oscar look. Her Valentino gown was a Greek goddess-worthy vision with its delicate pleating and bare-illusion back.

It was an amazing evening to be a trend watcher and a fan of fashion, wasn’t it? I’d love to hear about your favorites in the comments! There’s so much beauty to admire! #iseeyourbeauty
